Mr. Matthew Davis – Advanced Robotics Teacher
Mr. Davis served as a mentor to the YCDS GearHounds last year. He joins us this year to teach our advanced robotics course. Mr. Davis previously taught at the Art Institute of York and he continues to manage community events and festivals in the York area. Mr. Davis earned a B.S. in Information System Development and a M.B.A., both from York College of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Zach Hiduk – After School Assistant, Grades 1-5
Mr. Hiduk graduated from Lancaster Bible College with a B.A. in Biblical Studies and B.S. in Intercultural Studies. Since 2012, Mr. Hiduk has served as the Assistant Ministry Director at Stoney Point Camp. Most recently, he completed a Missionary Internship in the Czech Republic.
Dr. Tara Lavalle – Upper School History
Dr. Lavallee spent time at YCDS last year as a long-term substitute teacher. Her past teaching experience is at the collegiate level and most recently she was a professor at Millersville University in their Department of Government and Political Affairs. Dr. Lavallee earned a B.A. in Political Science from Boston College, an M.A. in International Affairs from The American University, and a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Connecticut.
Mrs. Suzanne Overbaugh – After School Assistant, PreK and Kindergarten
Mrs. Overbaugh has many years of experience as a tennis coach and instructor. She has served as a tennis coach at both YCDS and York College. In addition, Mrs. Overbaugh helped manage the Wisehaven Tennis Center where she taught tennis to students ages 3 to 10 years old.
Chef Phil Rodgers
Most recently, Chef Rodgers worked for Chartwells in the YCP West Campus dining hall. He was born and raised in York, and he attended culinary school at the Southeast Institute of Culinary Arts in Florida. Upon returning to the area, he worked at restaurants such as the Accomac, the Lancaster Country Club, the Country Club of York and the Blue Moon.
Mrs. Carol Royer – Lower School Art Teacher
Mrs. Royer comes to YCDS from the Philadelphia area. She is a professor of Art Education at Temple’s Tyler School of Art and a Museum Education Specialist for the Barnes Foundation. Mrs. Royer earned her B.F.A from Moore College of Art & Design and her M.S.Ed. in Visual Arts Education Administration and Supervision.
