The inaugural York Country Day School Greyhound 5K kicked off May 5 with sunshine in the sky and excitement on the ground. The YWCA Temple Guard Drill Team raised the bar with an uplifting and invigorating performance under the tutelage of Mike Smith.
At 8:30 a.m., Flash’s Fun Run and Obstacle Course featured numerous stations of tricks from hula hoops and limbo to a balance beam and frog hops. Each student won a school-colored lei for reaching the finish line, as Flash cheered them on!
US Road Running directed all of the runners and walkers to the starting line, and Dr. Christine Heine started the race with her air horn. Families lined the course with their red-and-grey pom-poms, red cowbells, and cheers of goodwill. See more photos here.
Overall race winner Ethan Schuler crossed the finish line at 21.15, and first female Jenna Morris garnered a time of 26.59. For the race results, click here.
This exciting event could not have been made possible without the generous support of our donors. Thank you to all who participated, supported, and volunteered for our First Annual Greyhound 5K Run/Walk and Fun Run.
